"Asha Kiran helps children with autism, dyslexia, ADHD, Hearing impairment, mental challenges, slow learners. We also help the disadvantaged children from an economically poor background."

It is a school with a difference!

The main goals of Asha Kiran Special Needs School are as follows:-
  • To provide the highest standard of education and assist in the overall development of the child.
  • To be a voice to create general awareness so that these children could be integrated in the society.
  • To give children Vocational training so that they could earn a means of living when they grow up.
  • To cater to each child’s need as much as possible, knowing that every child is made in the image of God.

Asha Kiran, meaning a 'Ray of Hope': Hope for the Special Needs Child spells:
Help/ Opportunity/ Progress/ Enrichment. This Dream was realized in December 1993, after its Founder Mrs. Rita James completed her Post Graduate Diploma in Special Education with the British Open University, UK. She would return to India with renewed vision to, "Make every child, no matter how challenged, a responsible member of society, by developing their individual skills and abilities."

Asha Kiran, the Special Needs School, was registered as a Charitable Trust under the Trust Act of India, in Bangalore with the following Objectives:
  • Speech / Auditory Training for the Hearing Impaired
  • Remedial Education to slow learners / learning difficulties
  • Offer basic education for the intellectually challenged
  • Aid socially/economically disadvantaged children pursue an education
  • Counsel Special Needs children and their parents
  • Vocational training to all eligible students
  • Seminars and workshops, for the dissemination of knowledge, for the benefit of Special Needs Children, Parents, Teachers, and the world they encounter: Awareness is a pre-requisite in a Society challenged with its own formalities.

Asha Kiran is the one school in Bangalore which promotes Inclusive education, embracing children challenged in every area*, and the normal children, all under one roof.

The Teacher/Student Ratio is small [1:8] allowing for personal attention, The total development of the child is crucial and requires our undivided attention to detail specific to each child. Parents, especially mothers, are involved as a part of the training process, taking the entire dimension homeword, where other thresholds must be overcome, for the child, his family, and the world outside the front door!

To make every child a responsible member of the society by developing their individual skills and abilities.
